God's Girls 105: Homemaking, a one-credit High School Life Skills Course
Let's Learn to Manage Our Future Homes Today with Living Books, Scripture, and Mentoring Time with Mom! I love being a homemaker! When my children got to high school, I wanted to teach them more homemaking skills, but I also wanted to teach them the heart behind homemaking, so I put together a homemaking course using Proverbs 31, The Hidden Art of Homemaking, and Jesus, Fill My Heart & Home Bible Study. You see I didn't want them to just know homemaking skills, I wanted them to build joyful homes filled with the Presence of Jesus! How about you? Are you interested in imparting homemaking wisdom into your daughter's life and getting a credit for high school at the same time. If so, you will love this course! The course is set up for daughters to work on their own and to meet with Mom once a week to go over Scripture, lessons, and discuss reading. In addition, each week, there is a hands-on project for them to do together. The two of you will also start a recipe box of favorite recipes to add to for the rest of her life. It would be nice to put some of her favorite dishes that you make in the recipe box. You can give it to her as a gift or you can make a recipe box together. Students will sew, cook, bake, make candy, decorate, garden, paint, do laundry, organize, tidy, clean, make jam, wrap presents, grocery shop, build a wardrobe, decorate a cake, scrapbook, take photos, serve an elderly friend, spend time with someone from another generation, accessorize, hostess a Mother's Day Tea, write a poem, write an essay, and perform a skit. In our home this was one of our favorite classes--it was such fun for the girls and me! Happy Homemaking! Meredith Curtis |
You will learn the heart behind homemaking with Scripture memorization, Bible study, and reading living books. The rest of the course will be brainstorming , planning, and hands-on projects.
