Drive Thru History (R) is a favorite at our house, so we were all excited to watch Drive Thru History (R) "Acts to Revelation". Wow! Another amazing video series that takes us back in time to the days of Acts and Revelation from The Bible. The DVD set includes 18 episodes (30 minutes each) for an amazing homeschool Bible curriculum or homeschool history curriculum. We are using it now for Bible, but later I will use it when we study Ancient History. Here are the Episodes 1. The Gospel Shared at Pentecost 2. The Church Grows in Jerusalem 3. The Gospel Spreads to the Gentiles 4. Saul of Tarsus and the Road to Damascus 5. Paul's First Missionary Journey: The Island of Cyprus 6. The Journey Continues: Pamphylia, Galatia, & Asia Minor 7. The Jerusalem Council & Paul's Second Missionary Journey 8. The Second Journey Continues: Philippi & Thessolonica 9. A Road Trip to Athens 10. Ancient Corinth 11. Paul's Third Missionary Journey: Ephesus 12. Paul's Final Trip to Jerusalem & Cesarea 13. Adventures at Sea: The Island of Malta 14. A Final Journey to Rome 15. The Martyrdom of Paul & Peter 16. John and the Island of Patmos 17. The Seven Churches of Revelation 18. The Book Closes on the New Testament Period First of all, the DVD set and Study Guide are beautiful. They come inside a package that looks like a book. The photos in the study guide are clear, gorgeous, and glossy like a coffee table book. I am just excited to own this so I can take it out and look at it. We watched Drive Thru History(r) "Acts to Revelation" with another family. We watched a session and then went through the study guide questions. I liked the questions because they covered the main points of each episode. They were the perfect balance of not too easy and not too challenging. No one talked or fidgeted during the episodes. Everyone was glued to Dave Stott's teaching on the early church! Hey, that's a good thing to be focused on! After we had watched three episodes and answered study guide questions, we discussed the collection so far. Here are some comments. "I liked how much this focused on history." "I love that Dave was teaching for the Bible while he was standing right where it happened! That is so cool!" "The church (St. Stephen's) was so beautiful and I couldn't believe they found the ruins on the site they wanted to build on. Somehow that made the story of Stephen's death so much more real." "It was fascinating to see an ancient drawing of a city and then the modern city, especially Joppa which is now called Jaffa." "Can we watch one more episode before we go home?" Everyone wanted to keep watching so we continued on, even though scheduling was sometimes hard with our busy lives. For me, my personal favorite episode was 15: The Martyrdom of Paul and Peter. This was just emotional for me because of how much I love their writings and to think that they gave up their lives for Jesus so willingly. I actually visited a jail cell in Rome where Christians were imprisoned and just wept. This episode took me back to that feeling of being "where" history happened." We have such a great cloud of witnesses that have gone before us whose examples spur us on. The next best thing to visiting Israel, Asia Minor, Rome, and all the biblical places is to watch Dave Stotts and see all these places through his eyes. Also, reading the Bible regularly since 1979 when Jesus saved me, I have read these passages so many times, yet Dave Stotts brought them alive in a fresh way for me in all 18 episodes. I am personally grateful for the opportunity to review this series because it has refreshed my spirit and given me a new passion to pray for the church around the world. Here is the Trailer! We just used the Drive Thru American History series for our homeschool co-op. We watched one video each week from the beginning of the year until Christmas. It was so funny. One time, I was going to cancel the video because we had too much to do. The children begged to watch it during their lunch break. Of course, I let them! And I watched it too. I have seen all the Drive Thru History videos I own many times and always glean something new from them. If you say, "Do you want to watch a Drive Thru History..." I say, "Yes!" before you can finish your sentence. Dave's humor makes everything fun. I love the way he makes history alive for his watchers! Our family collects ALL the Drive Thru History(R) collections. The Ancient History series looks at ancient civilizations, especially those mentioned in the Bible. The American History series covers Columbus through the Constitution. The Holy Land goes back to the time of the Patriarchs. The Gospel series looks at the life of Jesus. These series have been indispensable to my homeschooling because they are interesting, fun, funny, and accurate. Would you like to read more reviews about Drive Thru History(R) Acts Thru Revelation?
