Why Are Books So Heavy?

This past Saturday I attended "Homeschooling's Black Friday," as my kids call it. It was a huge used curriculum sale. It was so well organized and easy to find amazing books. I found so many bargains. Classic literature for fifty cents or a dollar a book.

​Okay, I confess I am a book addict. I can't resist them. I have walls lined with bookshelves, but still there is always room for more.

​As all shopping must end, soon it was time to get in line. A long, very long line. In fact a two hour line with my piles of bargains. After fifteen minutes, my arms were hurting. After half an hour, my back was hurting, too. Another hour went by and it was two hours before I paid for my purchase.

​That's when it came to me.

How about going digital? Almost everything I held in my aching arms was available in an E-book or Kindle book. In the end, I bought over fifty books, heavy books. All fifty of those books would fit on my Kindle or tablet. And I can hold both my Kindle and tablet in one hand without breaking a sweat.

​Now, I will always love books, but I am seeing more and more the need for going digital. Homeschooling curriculum, literature, biographies, and classic works are all available as pdfs. In fact, you can do all your homeschooling using only digital products.

​When I use digital curriculum, I can just print the pages that need to be printed and I can print up as many copies as I need. Prices are usually much lower for digital products, too.
